Joel Lawrence Habetz Roberts Cove, LA - Funeral services will be held at St. Leo IV Catholic Church in Roberts Cove, LA, Wednesday, June 4, 2014 at 1:00 pm for Joel Lawrence Habetz, 52, who died Sunday, June 1, 2014 in Lafayette General Medical Center in Lafayette, LA. Interment will be in the St. Leo IV Cemetery in the Mausoleum, Roberts Cove, LA. Surviving are wife, Cindy Soileau Habetz. his three children Sara Habetz, Logan Habetz and Halle Habetz, parents, Lawrence Habetz and Marie Legnon Habetz of Roberts Cove, two sisters, Hope H. Hoffpauir and husband Clark of Roberts Cove, and Fara H. Boudreaux and husband Ben of Rayne, two brothers, Brian L. Habetz and wife Josette of Roberts Cove, and Larry Habetz and wife Sandy of Roberts Cove, numerous niece and nephews and great nieces and nephews . He was preceded in death by paternal grandparents, H. Joseph and Anna C. Habetz, maternal grandparents, Henry and Eunice Legnon, aunt, Bernadine Habetz, godmother, Patricia M. Habetz. Joel had a passion for life. He was devoted to his work as the owner and operator of The Copper King, he was a Tinsmith. Joel was known for his talented craftsmanship involving everything from old architectural elements to detailed copper designs. His latest project was a small farm on his property consisting of miniature animals with intentions of developing an interactive petting zoo for special needs children. Joel was a avid sports fan, supporting LSU, UL, Saints as well as Alabama Softball. The family would like to give a special thanks to the doctors and staff of Lafayette General Medical Center in Lafayette, LA. Joel was a member of St. Leo Holy Name Society in Roberts Cove, LA. A rosary will be recited Tuesday, June 3, 2014 at 7:00 pm by St. Leo Holy Name Society Friends will be received at Gossen Funeral Home, Inc., Rayne, LA Tuesday, June 03, 2014 from 4:00 pm until 9:00 pm and Wednesday, June 04, 2014 from 8:00 am until 12:30 pm.
